CFF and Cincy Stories Collaborate on New Award for Inaugural Film Festival; "Young Filmmaker Award" created exclusively for high school students.

Cincinnati OH - (May 24, 2018) - The Cindependent Film Festival and Cincy Stories have joined forces to create a new opportunity for budding filmmakers with the “Cincy Story Award” to be presented on August 26, 2018.

Cincy Stories is dedicated to building community through story and has found a unique opportunity in CFF to spread that message by recognizing a high school student film that will be presented at CFF. The award will be announced from nominated films at the Awards Brunch following the festival. The winner will work directly with Cincy Stories within the next year to develop and produce a unique film with guidance and resources from Cincy Stories.

To be considered for the award, submissions must be:

  • submitted/produced by a filmmaker in high school or graduating high school in 2018

  • a programmed short film at the Cindependent Film Festival

  • available for film production in Ohio upon receiving the award (winner not required to be an Ohio resident)

There are no restrictions on subject or genre, but submissions must specifically indicate in the profile that the film was produced by a high school student. Submissions must be made through FilmFreeway and will be judged based on creativity, content and execution.

Cindependent Film Festival Announces Partnership with 21c Museum Hotel

21c

Cincinnati OH - (April 23, 2018) - The clock is ticking for Earlybird submissions to the Cindependent Film Festival this summer, August 23-25 at the Woodward Theater in Over-the-Rhine. As a new incentive for filmmakers, we’re pleased to announce a partnership with the 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. “We’re so excited to be hosting filmmakers in Cincinnati to continue to expose the Queen City as a film destination city, helping to stimulate the economy and provide access to independent artists in our community,” said CFF Founder and Director, Allyson West.

Filmmakers whose work is selected for the festival will be eligible for two nights of free lodging at the 21c Museum Hotel. Located just blocks from the festival’s Woodward Theater home, the 21c Museum Hotel took the historic Metropole Hotel and reimagined it as a contemporary art museum. Festival organizers will be in touch with filmmakers who qualify.

This exciting hotel offer serves as extra incentive for filmmakers to submit their work before the April 30, “Earlybird” deadline and save $5. “Earlybird submissions end April 30, but we’re still taking submissions through July 3. We encourage early submission because we’re just as excited as you are, and we want to see your work as soon as possible,” West said.

Cincinnati Awards CFF with $10,000 Engage Cincy Challenge Grant!
Cindependent Film Festival wins big at annual Cincinnati Neighborhood Summit

Cincinnati OH - (March 10, 2018) - The Cindepedent Film Festival has been selected as a winner of the 2018 Engage Cincy Challenge, awarded $10,000 to be used to fund the festival taking place this summer, August 23-25 at the Woodward Theater in Over-the-Rhine.

“We are super excited to partner with the city of Cincinnati! We plan to use these funds to engage local independent filmmakers to network within the city and connect with other filmmakers all over the country,” said Development Director Angela Holman. “This will help us connect great people with great cinema this summer!”

CFF was one of only five organizations to receive the grant out of nearly 80 applicants.

Founder Allyson West and Holman accepted the award at a luncheon held at the Cintas Center. Councilmember Jeff Pastor and City Manager Harry Black gave West and Holman an oversized ceremonial check (see attached photos). Other winners included VIBE (Voices In the Built Environment), Neighborhood Flags,  MRC Street Studio and Summer of STEM Design.

The grant builds on fantastic momentum for the Cindependent Film Festival. On March 5, Executive Director of Film Cincinnati Kristen Schlotman spoke in favor of CFF at a press conference to officially announce the film festival.
